Breaking! Hon. Ahmed Mohammed bags award for exemplary performance in Ekiti State


The Deputy Majority Leader of Kogi State House of Assembly, Honourable Ahmed Mohammed has been given an Honorary award for Political Brand Personality of the Year by the National Association of Political Science Students - NAPSS, Afe Babalola UNIVERSITY ADO EKITI, for his “exemplary performance in governance.

The provost of the Department, Dr. Ademola Azeez who announced the Deputy Majority Leader and member representing Ankpa I State Constituency as the winner of the category, said selecting him for the award was easy as his track record of exemplary performance in his constituency towered above his peers.

The award was received by the recipient who was a guest speaker in the Department. He lectured on a paper titled; "The role of Youths in political participation and economic development in Nigeria". He commended the Department for finding him worthy of the opportunity to prepare the minds of younger ones. He also advised the students to consistently demonstrate their ability to foster positive, lasting change.

In his paper presentation, he outlined youths running for political office, Youth mainstreaming, Youths as voters and proper mentorship among others as role of Youths in political participation. He then proceeds to the office of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. A. O Ajisafe and the founder, Aare Afe Babalola on a special invitation.

Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
