Akus Lawal Sponsors Kogi Tenancy Bill as Assembly Holds Public Hearing

  Hon. Akus Lawal, Ankpa 1 The Kogi State House of Assembly has held a public hearing on the Kogi State Tenancy Bill, 2025, as part of efforts to provide a comprehensive legal framework for the regulation of tenancy relationships across the state. The public hearing, which took place on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, at the Assembly Complex in Lokoja, brought together representatives of government ministries, departments and agencies, members of the Nigerian Bar Association, estate surveyors and valuers, civil society organisations, members of the press and other relevant stakeholders. Delivering his welcome address, the sponsor of the Bill and member representing Ankpa I State Constituency, Hon. Akus Lawal, said the public hearing was designed to deepen participatory democracy by allowing stakeholders and members of the public to make meaningful contributions to the law-making process.
