Ankpa: Ahmed Ahmed to Kickoff grassroot soccer competition.

The honorable member representing Ankpa 1 state constituency and Deputy majority leader, Kogi State House of Assembly, Honorable Ahmed Mohammed would on Sunday, 24th December 2017 kickoff grassroot soccer competition / Football talent hunt.

The competition which would be coordinated by team of professionals and the sports department, Ankpa LGA features thirty two teams from different communities in Ankpa LGA.

Speaking with Alhaji Dauda Linco, who is also member of the organizing committee, he said this tournament would bring out talents and boost the football career of the participants who could generate income through soccer in future. This will also disengage jobless youths from social vices, by providing them opportunity to be structurally involved in a productive activity in the society.

Ankpa LGA is inherently endowed with talented young people; and their talents are of waste if they do not have the opportunity to be showcased to the public; this tournament will surely expose young talented youths to the outside world for future opportunities.

Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
