Governor Yahaya Bello Receives Torch of Unity For Asaba 2022 National Sport Festival (NSF)

Receiving the Torch of Unity on behalf of the Governor at the Kogi State Government House, Lokoja on Friday, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pharmacist Jamiu Abdulkareem Asuku assured Mr Saka Hakim a representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Dev. that Kogi State will no doubt participate in the festival.

The Governor also disclosed that every obligations necessary for Kogi State to participate at the event will be facilitated.
"I want to assured you that Kogi State will participate at the National Sport Festival, tag Asaba 2022 and everything financial obligations to enable the team to participate favourably will in the event will be facilitated) He said.

Kogi State Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Hon. Musa Idris who earlier received the Torch of Unity from teams of Ministry of Youth and Sports and presented same to the Governor said: "Kogi State is home to varieties of Sports like football, Basketball and others stating that Kogi will not only participate at the event but will pull a shocker by competing favourably for medals."

Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
