SPORTS: HON. IDRIS PLEDGES MORE COMMITMENT TO GRASSROOT DEVELOPMENT AS GYB FOOTBALL COMPETITION KICK OFF IN ANKPA

Kogi state Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Honourable Idris Musa (Danjuma Oando) has again reiterated this administration's commitment to grassroot sports development in the state through provision of enabling environment and building of young talents

Hon. Idris disclosed this at the opening
ceremony of the GYB FOOTBALL COMPETITION in Ankpa today, the Competition which was organize by the Honourable Commissioner himself

Addressing players and spectators all other dignitaries at Ankpa township Stadium prior to the kick off of the opening game between DKB BOY'S FC OF ANKPA and OMA ANGWA UNITED FC, the workaholic Commissioner said “Football games are a symbol of integration and unity in the noblest sense of the word, urging participants at this year's tournament to conduct themselves within the highest level and charging players to stick to the rule of the game to qualify for the respective awards in view

Highlight of the glamorous event include Opening Football Kick by the energetic Deputy Speaker Kogi House of Assembly Rt.Hon. Rabiu Alfa Momoh in the company of the All Progressive Congress APC Stakeholders in Ankpa local government and other dignitaries of Ankpa extraction.
a grand style kick which threw spectators into moment of joy and celebration 

The agile Commissioner further in his speech thanked the various Stakeholders, the local organizing committee (Loc) of the GYB Football Competition, the various team participating at this year's edition along their fans and supporters

He commended the Executive Chairman of Ankpa local government and the security agencies on ground for ensuring peaceful environment where sporting activities can thrive and charged them to keep up the good job through all the games

While bringing to bare the unalloyed commitment of the Sport loving Governor, his principal, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to youth and Sports development in the State as he  wished all registered teams a successful performance at the tournament.

The competition was strongly contested among Ten (10) secondary schools viz; Comsaldocg’s College Ankpa, Aleka Academy Ankpa, Global College Ankpa, St Charles College Ankpa, Redeemer Secondary School Ankpa, Community Sec. School, Demonstration Sec School, Unity Comprehensive Sec school, Dynamic International Group of School, Ankpa LGA Special Day Sec. School, and Govt. Girls Sec. School Okaba. Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.
