Breaking! Hon. Ahmed Ahmed award scholarship to twenty students


The Deputy Speaker Kogi State house of Assembly and the member representing Ankpa 1 constituency, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed attends graduation ceremony of Students of Unity Secondary School, Ankpa LGA.

The legislator who was a guest speaker at the occassion advice students to stay away from Anti social vices stated that all  over the world, governments have the fundamental responsibility of ensuring positive development of their citizenry and this can only be achieved through provision of qualitative education.

He also awarded scholarship to twenty (20) students. Criteria for selection include; best performing students, students who perform brilliantly in the cultural display, press presentation, and the less privileged also benefited hugely.

In his words; "I congratulate the beneficiaries and this is also a boaster for others to take their studies serious. I shall continue to encourage you and I am appealing to stakeholders to co-operate with the present administration to ensure that the state assumes its pacesetter status in the education sector", he said.

The principal of the college, who spoke on behalf of the school presented an award of excellence and humanitarian gesture to the Deputy Speaker. He appreciated his effort for support to education while calling on him not to relent in assisting the needy.

Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
