Ankpa LGA: Hon. Ahmed Mohammed ends maiden Quranic recitation competition with encouragement and hopes for the youths

ADDRESS BY HONORABLE AHMED MOHAMMED, MEMBER REPRESENTING ANKPA I STATE CONSTITUENCY, AND DEPUTY MAJORITY LEADER, KOGI STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY LOKOJA  ON THE OCCASION OF THE CLOSING CEREMONY OF ANKPA I MAIDEN EDITION OF QURANIC RECITATION COMPETITION, HELD AT ANKPA TOWNSHIP STADIUM.

All praises be to Almighty Allah, the owner of today, the owner of yesterday and the designer of our tomorrow. May His blessing be on our Holy Prophet Muhammmed, his companions and members of his family. Assalam Alaekunm Waramotullah Wa Barakatuhu.

I give glory to Allah for giving us the opportunity to witness the end of the 1st Edition of the Quranic Recitation Competition. I want to quickly commend the effort of the judges, the commuttee who invested their time, energy amd resources to the success of this program.

I rejoice with all the Reciters at this competition for the successful completion of the event. No doubt, the memorization of the Holy Quran requires so much commitment and seriousness. I, therefore, commend your determination to memorize the Holy Quran which has enabled you to participate in this very important competition. I want to also specially congratulate the winners  of the various categories of the competition for demonstrating exemplary memorization and recitation skills. I urge you not to relent in your study and recitation of the Holy Quran.

As a member representing Ankpa I State Constituency, within the shortest time spent so far we have ensured that your voices are heard. This, we have achieved by moving series of people-oriented motions, bills, which of course, has received government attention. I have not relent in touching the people directly via youth empowerment programs, provision of basic/social amenities, education and social services and importantly establishing and managing a closer relationship with the people. We may not have gotten it all but we are making progress.

Let me conclude by urging the people of Ankpa I State Constituency, Kogi State  and indeed all Nigerians to continue to embrace harmonious living and adopt peaceful resolutions to disputes that may arise during our daily interactions.

Once again, I commend our younger ones who has shown so much commitment and I assure you all that, by the special grace of God, the second edition will be more colourful, better, and historic.

I wish you all a safe trip back to your various destinations.

The Science Quiz Competition organised for Students in Ankpa LGA at St. Charles College, was greeted by so many people who troop in to see the display of academic knowledge of our teeming youths in Ankpa LGA. The competition was strongly contested among Ten (10) secondary schools viz; Comsaldocg’s College Ankpa, Aleka Academy Ankpa, Global College Ankpa, St Charles College Ankpa, Redeemer Secondary School Ankpa, Community Sec. School, Demonstration Sec School, Unity Comprehensive Sec school, Dynamic International Group of School, Ankpa LGA Special Day Sec. School, and Govt. Girls Sec. School Okaba. The Science subjects selected for the quiz programmes are Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
