Ankpa is gradually reclaiming its long lost glory: Onu Ankpa


The Onu Ankpa, HRM Alhaji Abdul Malik Umar on Friday 7th June, 2019 commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his exemplary leadership and the manner he had been piloting the affairs of the state for the benefit of the people.

Speaking at his palace, where the Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and member representing Ankpa 1 constituency, Hon. Ahmed Mohammed paid him a courtesy visit and to seek for his prayers, blessings and counsels as he begin a new legislative journey in the 7th Assembly. The royal father who had endorsed Gov Yahaya Bello for a second term in office, said they were delighted that Ankpa LGA is gradually reclaiming its long lost glory in government. He thank the Governor for finding their son (Ahmed Ahmed) worthy in all ramifications and has always come to the plight of Ankpa LGA anytime request is made.

The Onu Ankpa prayed for the new Deputy Speaker for God guidance, more wisdom, and also applaud the governor for entrenching peace and good governance in the state, and finally urge him not to relent in according the traditional institutions their due respect as custodians of tradition.

Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
