Kogi Deputy Speaker Applaud the Attah Igala for making tangible demand in the best interest of Kogi State.

The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed has commend the Attah of Igala and chairman Kogi State council of traditional rulers, HRH Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni, for presenting before the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, very tangible demands that are in the best interest of Kogi State.

The Attah, who spoke at the presidential villa in his speech, said "As royal fathers from Kogi state, under the First Class Banner across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state, we have come on a duty bound mission to bring you report on realities on ground about governance and general state of wellbeing of our dear state".
He spoke extensively on the success recorded by his Excellency the Governor of Kogi State Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello in the area of Security, Agriculture, Employment generation, infrastructural development, and his detribalized nature in managing the complex state populated by over 6 ethnic groups.

Rt. Hon. Ahmed Ahmed of Ankpa 1 constituency also commend the Attah Igala for drawing the attention of the president to place priority on the Ajaokuta Steel Complex, as this can fix unemployment issues in Kogi state through direct and indirect employment and transform the industrial hub of Nigeria. The Attah also request the upgrade of the Ministerial status given to Kogi state to a higher responsiblity in the president cabinet, based on the fact that Kogi state in the last elections won overall 93% electoral victory; winning the state for the Presidential, winning 2/3 of the Senatorial districts, 7/9 of the Federal House of Representatives and winning 25/25 at the State Assembly Levels.

In his words; " I will forever hold the Attah of Igala in very high esteem. He made use of the opportunity to present huge demands to Mr. President.The Omi Dam power project for example, the request that FG look into many Federal roads in Kogi state which are in deplorable states due to the high traffic Kogi roads suffes, an appeal that Kogi citizens be placed into key positions in his cabinet, adminstrations and various MDA's. This is one of the best opportunity so far for us. The Governor loves his people for coming with such initiative - first ever in Kogi State".

His Excellency, has done well within this short time in office, and more yet to come, that is the more reason he has our utmost support. We have taken a bold decision to support the reelection of Governor Yahaya Bello because of his record breaking achievements, we are firm and resolute in our decision, and we shall succeeded come November 2019.

Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
