Ankpa Tanker Explosion: Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed condoles with families of victims

Member representing Ankpa 1 state constituency, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed expressed his condolences to the families of victims of the Wednesday petrol tanker accident in Ankpa/Oturkpo Road which claim lives and properties.

The former Deputy Speaker said he was deeply saddened by the dreadful loss of lives resulting from the explosion, as he described the accident as a major tragedy for the local government.

Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed beseeched the Almighty God to grant solace and respite to the bereaved families while granting repose to the souls of the deceased. His words: "Our prayers are with the victims of the unfortunate incident. I pray for the repose of the souls of the departed ones and the fortitude for their families to bear the irreparable loss, while I also wish the injured ones quick recovery and return to their normal activities."

He further urge the Ankpa LG task force to ensure evacuation traders selling who display goods by the road sides in Ankpa/Oturkpo road back to the market to enable road users drive freely and avoid future occurrences.

Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
