ANKPA LGA: HONORABLE AHMED MOHAMMED COMMISSIONS FIVE BOREHOLES

The years of anguish of the people of Ankpa LGA in search of portable water may be coming to an end with the commissioning of numerous water projects which was embarked upon by the Honorable Member representing Ankpa 1 State Constituency, and the Deputy Majority Leader, Kogi State House of Assembly, Honorable Ahmed Mohammed tagged “Operation Water for All”.

Yesterday 1st January 2018 was historic as Honorable Ahmed Mohammed commissions five portable borehole for Angwa Okpakpala/Interlona, Angwa Oforda, Ankpa/Oturkpo Road, Allor-Ankpa, and Ejinya Ugbonobi Community in Ankpa District. The event, attracted lots of dignitaries and personalities across the state.

His major aim of Flagging-off this biggest water project last year (1st January 2017) was to provide sustainable access to safe and sufficient water to meet the cultural, social and economic developmental needs of the people, for all uses, in ways that contribute to enhancing public health, food security, and reduce poverty alleviation. This has increased the number of completed water project to twelve out of the Twenty two which was flagged-off.

The Deputy Majority Leader enjoined the residents to use the water projects effectively, preventing wastages and takes proper care of the facilities so that they could last long, while calling on individuals and private bodies and politicians to come to the aids of communities to provide what they needed.

The competition was strongly contested among Ten (10) secondary schools viz; Comsaldocg’s College Ankpa, Aleka Academy Ankpa, Global College Ankpa, St Charles College Ankpa, Redeemer Secondary School Ankpa, Community Sec. School, Demonstration Sec School, Unity Comprehensive Sec school, Dynamic International Group of School, Ankpa LGA Special Day Sec. School, and Govt. Girls Sec. School Okaba. The Science subjects selected for the quiz programmes are Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
