HON. AHMED MOHAMMED: AN EMBODIMENT OF PHILANTHROPISM

On Monday was the first day of a new year (01/01/2018). Ordinarily, I should send new year message(s) to the general public but no, I have decided to follow my heart and do what I know how to do best that is, appreciating people who should be appreciated or worthy of appreciation.

Today is an important day, it means many things to many people. The first day of every 365 days that makes a year is not a joke. While many travel to their birth place or home town for many reasons, others stays in their work place to make a resolution for the new year.

Honourable Ahmed Mohammed a.k.a Ahmed-Ahmed, is a man that needs no introduction to his constituents but for your sake who's reading this piece and not from Ankpa local government in Kogi State, He's currently the member representing Ankpa 1 state constituency at the Kogi State house of assembly.

Since he was sworn-in as a member Kogi State house of assembly, I have been following his activities religiously. Today I am convinced that his body system is wired with a philanthropic vein.

Today, I can confidently say without mincing words, that since he became a state legislator, he has always been in tune in terms of understanding the needs of his constituents.

As a state legislator, he has shown his prowess as a development expert. According to a development theorist by name Dudley Seers; "Development is define as a reduction in the rate of poverty, insecurity and unemployment".

However, like Dudley Seers, like Ahmed-Ahmed. While Dudley Seers theorises development, Ahmed-Ahmed practices development. Practically, Honourable Ahmed Mohammed has demonstrated the theory in almost all the five wards that made up Ankpa 1 through his declaration of "Water For All" initiative under which uncountable and functional boreholes were sunk with the aim of reducing poverty and water insecurity.

Also, the establishment of uncountable skill acquisition centers like tailoring, with the aim of reducing unemployment and idleness in his constituency and make his constituents to be self reliant. This is another practical demonstration of Dudley Seers theory on development.

In addition, Hon. Ahmed-Ahmed, with his humanitarian spirit on the eve of new year (31/12/2017) as displayed in the pictures below as part of his efforts to reduce insecurity in his constituency donated a brand new motor bike to the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) for security surveillance.

While the donation was made, he also proceeded to the Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) Ankpa branch and made a donation of food and other items to the inmates.

I can go on and on and on but I don't want to bore you with long read. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed is a state legislator with a difference.

Hon. Ahmed Mohammed, you're my 2017 State house of assembly LEGISLATOR of the year. My wish for you today is sound health, productive longevity and more feather to your cap so that you may continue to do good. Happy new year!

Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
