Deputy Speaker Sympathizes with families of accident victims in Ankpa LGA



The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and member representing Ankpa 1 constituency, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed commiserated with families of those who died in a road mishap along Ankpa/Opulega road yesterday on their way to grace a wedding Fatiha at Okura.

The Deputy Speaker described the incident as painful, sad and unfortunate, saying it is a huge loss to the families, their loved ones and Ankpa LGA as a whole as most of the victims were very promising youths.

He prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest.

Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.
