Kogi State Deputy Speaker Receives Hero’s Welcome In Port Harcourt


Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed, the Deputy Speaker Kogi House of Assembly and Member Representing ANKPA 1 in the Kogi State House of Assembly on Friday received a Hero’s Welcome at his arrival at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed was received by Stella Maris College Old Boys Association (Golden Boys), a group which he is recognized as one of them.

Prince Sampson Anyanwu, the President of the club led other members of the club to also decorate Rt. Hon. Ahmed with the club attire and officially inaugurated him back into the fold of the Stella Maris College Old Boys Association (Golden Boys).

In a happy moment, visibly excited at the accolade, the deputy speaker exchanged pleasantry with friends as they proceeded for the day`s business.

Rt. Hon. Ahmed is bid to also attend the wedding ceremony of his colleague and friend, the deputy speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ehie Ogerenye Edison on Saturday in Port Harcourt.

Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
