Young people are the future of Kogi State: Kogi Deputy Speaker
Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed, the Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly & member representing Ankpa 1 constituency said that good leaders and governance would be possible in Kogi State if youths would be reoriented to become agents of change.
Ahmed, who was a guest at 2019 Youth Peace Camp said that the youths should stand up and be counted among those that would change the state and country at large.
"As youths, you need to know that you are the future of this state and after this camp, it is expected of you to go out as a different person in character and learning. I encourage you to be productive, shun violence and be a good example to the society. Get up and be engaged with something positively. Idleness and unemployment are some of the major drivers of Youths Restiveness resulting to Violent Extremism".
The Government of Kogi State is putting up measures that will engage the youths in entrepreneurial activities, and this will help curb violent extremism as they will be opportunities and linkages on entrepreneurship, and job creation
The 2019 Youth Peace Camp is organised by ActionAid Nigeria in partnership with Participation Initiative for Behavioural Change In Development - Pibcid and proudly sponsored by the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund.
