Kogi State Deputy Speaker expresses shock over the fatal Tanker Explosion at Felele, prays for the deceased.

The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and member representing Ankpa 1 constituency, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed expressed shock over the fatal tanker explosion which occured at Felele this morning claiming lives of many and properties destroyed. The Deputy Speaker said he was saddened by the lives lost in the unfortunate incident and the pains it inflicted on families. In his words; “My heart goes out to all the victims of the fuel tanker explosion. This is the most horrendous way to die. I am too shocked and traumatized to express the depth of my grief for the victims of the explosion. We must try and reach out to the victims’ families who are affected by these avoidable deaths. This is one tragedy too many. I am confident that the State Government will do something to ensure this does not happen again,” he said. Supreme Court Victory; Kogi Deputy Speaker Congratulates Governor Bello

The Kogi State Deputy Speaker and member representing Ankpa 1 constituency, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed has congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello and his Deputy, Chief Edward David Onoja over the validation of his election victory by the Supreme Court of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In a statement personally signed by him on Monday, the state legislator said the news of the supreme court verdict did not come as a surprise because of the massive support the Governor received during the November 2019 Gubernatorial Elections from Kogites of diverse backgrounds. The Deputy Speaker of Kogi House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.  Ahmed Mohammed, on Saturday urged the Federal and State Governments to empower youths to play active and constructive roles in governance. The Deputy Speaker made the call on Saturday in Lokoja at a forum organised by the Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative, an  NGO , as part of activities to mark the 2020 International Youth Day Celebration. He said that youths must be empowered to play constructive, unifying and innovative roles and be fully included in the country’s development process. He also said that they must have equal access to economic opportunities and decent livelihood. It is therefore with heavy hearts and in total submission to the will of the Almighty God, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, that i received with a rude shock, the news of the transition of a true friend, a brother, a businessman and a philanthropist of note, Late Evangelist Vitalis Ahanonu who passed on Sunday 19th July, 2020 after a brief illness. The late Evangelist was a good man who has used his wisdom, wits, energy and resources to help stitch together the multi-interest and diverse expectations of the people he met. He is one man whom I personally love his counsel, teachings and advises. I could recall vividly in 2009 when I left my boss to start up my business in the marine industry, he has been a strong pillar whom supported me in so many ways. The Success story RT. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed launches third phase of his Back to School Education Support Program with this year's central focus on "Taking the youths off the street". The program target youths who are passionate about education but could not afford the means. Most of them engage in street hawking, doing menial jobs thereby, putting themselves to negative environmental factors and influence of bad friends. Street hawking has huge implications for  physical and emotional well-being of youths. It exposes them to sexual abuse, physical exhaustion, vehicle accidents, death, malnourishment, drug and substance abuse and prostitution. Despite the emotional trauma and physical dangers they experience, little is being done to protect them or to discourage such practices. Since a majority of the population still live in rural areas, the idea behind this project is to pick at least twenty five (25) people off the street and enrol them...
