Press Statement.

TRIBUTE TO HIS ROYAL MAJESTY WHOSE LIFE WAS AN INSPIRATION AND MEMORY A BENEDICTION

The news of your sudden journey to the land of our ancestors was a huge shock, source of distress and upset to us. Just like Robert Herrick will say, “we weep to see you haste away so soon; as yet the early-rising sun has not attain’d his noon".

Gaàbaidu, Attah Ugbàkolo, for likes of you did Bessie Anderson Stanley wrote his poem “A Successful Man”. ‘That man is a success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it; who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had; Whose life was an inspiration and memory a benediction.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the royal family, and the good people of Kogi East - Our fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters; Indeed, a great iroko tree has fallen! May God give us the peace that will ease the pain of this great loss.
As a King and our father you led us well. As a man you were also a good philanthropist, even until your sudden departure to the land of our forefathers, you loved and will always do your best to help put smiles on the face of people as much as you could. You will be remembered for so many positive contributions to Igala land and Kogi State.
When I was made the Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, I led all the members of KGHA from Kogi East to your palace. Your royal blessings has been a front arrow of our progress and your words of encouragement, advises and warnings as a father has kept us united. You've always lend your golden voice agitating for rapid industrialisation of Igalaland and the Kogi East Senatorial District; with your influence, the Executive Governor  of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Bello ensured the Project Light Up Kogi East (PLUKE), a is designed to expand electricity infrastructure and supply into all the local government areas Igala land. And so many positive moves, guidance, advises, and suggestions which can never be forgotten.

Gaabaidu, I wish you had tarried much longer on this side because we still have so much to learn from you. However, the Omnipotent knows better.
Once again, my heartfelt condolences to the royal family, Igala Kingdom, Kogi State and Nigeria. I pray for the eternal repose of the soul of HRM Chief Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II as you journeyed to the land of Ibègwu.

Signed;
Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed
