ANKPA:  Hon. Ahmed Mohammed flags off social welfare scheme for widows

Honorable Ahmed Mohammed representing Ankpa 1 State constituency on Sunday 4th March, 2018, in Ojède-Ankpa LGA flagged off a Social Welfare Scheme for Widows with over 250 widows to benefit and a promise that nobody would be left out in the prosperity for all.

Speaking at the eventful ceremony, the Deputy Majority Leader said that the scheme would take care of the financial and health needs of the widows, and also empower them to be able to start up small scale businesses. He explained that the welfare scheme was another addition to the prosperity agenda as over 500  youths  were presently benefitting from the Ahmed Mohammed Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Scheme.

Today we are here to witness another milestone in Ankpa LGA. The welfare scheme which is designed for selected widows to assist and empower you to cater for your needs. We will begin our first phase by selecting a total of two hundred and fifty widows drawn from the five wards in the constituency to participate in the scheme which will commence soon, he said.

He commended the women for their diligence and cooperation in in holding weekly meetings to sensitising themselves through his foundation and enjoined all the participating widows to continue encourage and offer him prayers to move the constituency forward.

Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
