Kogi Deputy Speaker Congratulates Governor Bello on his chieftainy title as the Omeiza Obaniyi of Gegu Beki

The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed has sent a message of congratulations to his Excellency the Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello on his new Chieftaincy title as the Omeiza Obaniyi of Gegu Beki by His Royal Highness, Mohammed Alhassan Abba, the Nyiwo of Gegu Beki yesterday.
The Deputy Speaker who described the title as well deserved given the monumental achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello in office, said the traditional leaders and chiefs has received tremendous support and cooperation in their respective office, following the upgrade from third class to second class, and from second class to first class respectively.

The state legislator also commend the effort of the Governor in the area of security, health, agriculture, infrastructure and youth empowerment. 
He assures the Governor of Governor of total support, while calling on traditional institutions to continue the tireless effort in their quest to bring growth and development to the state.

Breaking News: Muri/SDP floors ODODO as Supreme Court grants stay of execution

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has issued a stay of execution on the orders of the Court of Appeal, which were previously granted on March 1st, 2024. These orders had set aside the inspections conducted by the Petitioners, as well as orders G, K, and N of the Tribunal's orders from November 25th, 2023. The legal team representing the Petitioners, led by Chief J.S. Okutepa SAN and including Shaibu Enejoh Aruwa SAN and other lawyers, passionately argued for the stay during today's hearing, expressing concern over the irreversible damage the Court of Appeal's orders would inflict on their clients. Responding to their plea, the Supreme Court granted the interim stay and ordered relief in accordance with the motion filed on March 5th, 2024. The hearing on the motion on notice has now been adjourned to March 11th, 2024.

Breaking: Fresh Petition Accuse Yahaya Bello, Ododo of stealing over N300 Billion Local Government Funds

A fresh petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has accused former Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello and his successor, Usman Ododo, of conniving with others to either loot or misappropriate over N300Billion allocation to the 21 Local Governments of the state between May 2016-January 2024. On Wednesday, operatives of EFCC had stormed Bello’s residence in Abuja in an attempt to arrest him over an ongoing fraud investigation. But Ododo arrived the former Governor’s residence and helped him to evade arrest by smuggling him out. However, the fresh petition listed all the 21 immediate past Local Government Chairmen who served during Bello as co-conspirators in the looting of the over N300billion LG funds. The petition signed by a group known as Kogi Conscience stated that in 2016, N23.1billion was received as Kogi Local Govt Allocations and in 2018, N43.6billion was received.
